Enjoy. photosmy facehungry hipposdance dancearchiveabout The basics Well this is a very striped down version of an intended blog, it’s really just a cluster of feeds that tracks my activity on various sites that I madly refresh every few minutes or so. Apart from my random hey-I’m-still-alive posts everything is automated with me behind the automation. But more importantly is that this cluster of feeds all have to do with me. Yes, a little cocky sounding there, but the main purpose of this organized blurb page crap packed with feeds is to reflect my life in Hong Kong. As I am not originally from Hong Kong. Me me me To start off my name is John Zhang. My Chinese name is 張振明. My parents are originally from Canton and Hong Kong which is what sparked my interest in finding out my roots in Hong Kong. Sadly, I was born in America, which only is good for providing public schooling, a higher currency rate, and selling everything at a premium pricing. Being born in America makes me an ABC or a 竹升仔 in Chinese. However, I speak Cantonese and have been learning Mandarin on and off since I was ye’ tall. So I think I’m alright with the language with the exception of random, but not often blank outs when I speak it. I don’t embrace the fact that I am an ABC, that’s why I’m here in Hong Kong and I’ve been loving it so far with no regrets. Unique facts I get really offended and annoyed when native Chinese speakers express that they are amazed that I can speak so fluently, well no fucking shit, I’m yellow skined and so are you, I was raised by parents that could only speak Chinese and even after 20ish years in America they still can’t. So I can speak Cantonese and Mandarin. But that’s not it. I’m a triple threat, I also took French for three years in high school so it’s tres bien. I’ve also played the piano since age six and quit around tens years later. I have plans to take it up again once I have some free time. And I really suck at drinking, one and a half can of beer will put me out for the night and I’m at the mercy of anyone, before that I tend to usually spit out all my desires and secrets… My interests I enjoy anything and everything Cantonese, which includes food to TV dramas. My hobbies include taking photos with my Nikon D80, keeping planted aquariums, working out, listening to Chinese and electronified music, keeping neat, picture whoring myself in front of the bathroom mirror whilst hoping to not get caught, the intarwebz, taking long walks along the beach, reading platonic romaticisms while crying myself to sleep, and spending the rest my free time online in random dating chatrooms*. Inspirational people These are the people that have had great affect on my life and have shaped who I am today: My family and friends, Madame DesRochers, Takashi Amano, Michael Jackson, Jay Chou, Takashi Murakami, Bruce Lee, Steven Chow, Jin.
